A Bio for Custom Jewelry Designer: The story of Mary Mac’s Jewelry Creations

Clothing and fashion are variable works of art from person to person. But the most important piece of art that will complete and enhance your outfit is your jewelry. Without accessories, the most beautiful attire can seem hum-drum.

Jewelry designer, Mary Garcia, formerly, Mary McDaniel, of Houston, Texas now designs pieces of art that can adorn any outfit in a manner that turns heads. Not long ago, Mary began making trips to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a day or two of skiing on the beautiful slopes of the southwest. While there, she would also make time for visiting family and friends. One particular family member residing in these southwest mountains was an art major and would throw beautiful parties for all of her artistic acquaintances while Mary was visiting. The artsy guests would often arrive to the parties wearing jewelry designs that they had created for themselves. As Mary viewed each beautiful piece of jewelry worn by the guests, she began to think, “I can do this."

So here began Mary’s journey. She quickly began to design pieces of jewelry for herself. As she wore each creation, people would ask her, “Where did you get that?" She would smile and say, “I made it." Individuals soon began making requests for Mary to design custom jewelry sets. At that point in time, Mary McDaniel, set out to sell her jewelry through her husband’s tailor shop. Her jewelry, known as Mary Mac’s Jewelry Creations, was highly sought after by clients visiting the tailor shop. But Mary faced a tragedy when her husband passed away because of a heart-attack. Even through this misfortune, Mary has continued creating beautiful pieces of jewelry. She has since remarried and her designs continue to grow in popularity.

Mary now designs for a retailer in San Antonio, Texas. It just so happens that one day, a friend of celebrity Eva Longoria had the opportunity to view some of Mary’s creations. He contacted Mary directly and asked her to make some pieces for Ms. Longoria. Ms. Longoria chose a beautiful collection in which the necklace was set in a Y formation and made with stunning squares of green aventurine quartz and Czechoslovakian crystals. Regardless of what character roles Ms. Longoria plays on the silver screen, her real life character is one of true kindness and thoughtfulness. Ms. Longoria sent an autographed picture to Mary Mac in order to thank her for the exquisite jewelry set. Ms. Longoria commented that she chose the aventurine set because it was something that she could wear with everything.

Not only does Mary take pride in creating elegant pieces, but she also prays over each piece. Mary’s sister, Amelia, affirms that many individuals who wear her jewelry state that they “feel good when they wear it." Mary seeks quality stones and gems from the Rio Grande and Albuquerque area where the American Indians believe every stone has an ability to give aid to the wearer. Some of the lore asserts that turquoise is a healing stone, citrine aids in prosperity, amethyst aids to help overcome alcoholism and aventurine aids in intellect and eyesight. Mary is a very spiritual woman and asks God for her creativity. Mary states, “I believe that there is a God who performs miracles and listens." She has a faith that God gives her a vision for each piece she designs, and each one is created exclusively for the person who is drawn to it.
